Subject: Mosaic and Netmanage
Fellow winsockers,
I am having trouble with win mosaic when I am using the
netmanage winsock set. ANY attempt at getting data from a server
accross slip or the ethernet causes wither a dns lookup fail, or MORE
commonly a "Socket Reset" error.
A diagnostic capture show the request sent AND the server's
responce of data back to the client. But the client's socket get's
reset before it gets all the data or parses it.
I do NOT have this problem when I use the trumpet slip winsock
set. Winmosaic works fine with trumpet, but I need to be able to have
both an ethernet and slip/ppp interface.
Netmanage will only say "winmosaic is alpha" they wont help with
this problem. Can any of you out there offer any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Ben

I'm not sure it will fulfill your requirements, but have you looked at Samba?
It's a daemon which resides on the UNIX machine and makes various services
(drives and printers) available as LANMAN devices. In other words, a LANMAN
aware client, like Windows for Workgroups, would be able to connect to
the services without being NFS aware. It's probably much faster too.
The only NFS client I am aware of is Cameleon NFS, from Net Manage.
Good luck.

Would you care to elaborate? Which version of Chameleon? What bugs?
